Rome, Italy
Italy’s eternal city of history and art
The timeless city of Rome is a spectacular living museum and an undeniably perfect destination for art lovers. For an experience of the Baroque, climb the illustrious Spanish Steps. Walk through the Piazza Navona or pitch a coin into the gorgeous Trevi Fountain. Renaissance grandeur is found at the Pope's residence, the Vatican Palace, and in Michelangelo's works at the Sistine Chapel. Christian Basilicas, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, remind visitors of the glories of the Roman Empire.
Visit Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio to witness superior Renaissance town planning and classical statues. Head over to the Stadio Olimpico to see Mussolini's endeavour to reinvent the architecture of the Caesars. For the ultimate Bohemian feel, go to Trastevere.

Step into Seoul and discover a city at the crossroads of the past and future. Stroll through the streets and see modernity and traditions collide, with skyscrapers co-existing with traditional Korean homes. The Gyeongbokgung Palace is a must-see with its impressive architecture and intricate designs from a bygone age. For a bit of tranquillity, take a hike up the Namsan Mountain. It's an oasis of calm and the view is spectacular. No trip to Seoul is complete without a visit to Namdaemun Market, the largest one around – it's a bargain hunter's paradise with everything from homeware to clothes.
*For techies, there are gadgets galore at Yongsan Electronics Market – whatever you're into, you're sure to find it there. Do try the bright orange ‘tteokbokki’, which is available around most street corners. This tasty fare is a Korean rice cake stew that's cooked with hot peppers and onions and is one of South Korea's most famous street foods.

Auckland, New Zealand
New Zealand’s City of Sails
With its mesmerising views, it's little wonder that this region was chosen to be the set for the Lord of the Rings. Take in the beauty of the city from the 328-metre Sky Tower where you can also base jump or leap off an inverted bungee. Go on to Queen Street, the main street towards downtown, and shop at the Queens Arcade. Then stop by the Auckland Town hall, a stroll away from Albert Park – home to the Auckland City Art Gallery, the Heritage Gallery, the New Gallery and the Bruce Wilkinson Collection. Southeast of the centre is the 202-acre Auckland Domain featuring some great must-sees, including the Auckland Museum.
For a 360-degree panorama of the city, go up Mount Eden, Auckland's highest natural point. Next, head towards Herne Bay and Ponsonby where chic cafes and bars offer excellent excuse to let your hair down. The ‘living' Howick Historical Museum meanwhile is excellent for its charming period buildings. A stone’s throw away, the Hauraki Gulf Islands, the Coromandel Peninsula and the Bay of Islands hold their very own in their interpretations of enthralling beauty.
